The Realness of Andy Frasella

DJ kicks off the conversation by asking Andy what he would change about himself, "besides the obvious." Andy humorously responds, "What's the obvious?" This lighthearted exchange quickly transitions into a deeper discussion about personal growth and authenticity. Andy reflects on how much he has changed since he was 19, stating that he doesn't think "a lot" has changed. He acknowledges that in the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey, there was a significant amount of fear, uncertainty, and anxiousness due to not knowing what he was doing. However, as he gained experience and understood the true nature of entrepreneurship, that subsided. He also notes a natural increase in confidence that comes with years of experience. Andy believes he is a "little more patient" now but fundamentally remains the same person he has "always been." He emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself, contrasting it with others who constantly "reinvent themselves." Andy views this constant reinvention as a sign of being afraid to be one's authentic self, creating "masks or avatars" to present to the world. He argues that true growth isn't about reinvention but about being comfortable with who you are. He also touches on the manipulative tactics of some individuals who repeatedly change their persona, often ending up in a place where they "found Jesus" because people are less likely to criticize religious claims. Andy asserts that he has always felt like the same person, even from 16 years old, only noting the addition of "grey shit now."
