The Initial Encounter: A Black BMW and a Suspicious Woman
The story began on June 19, 2026, when a park ranger noticed suspicious activity inside a black BMW parked near Independence Mall. The driver, 44-year-old Eugene Horsch, was accompanied by a woman in the passenger seat. As the ranger approached, he overheard the woman saying, "You're going to hurt me." This immediately raised red flags, prompting the ranger to investigate further. Horsch presented forged identification, claiming to be a DEA agent, and a search of the car revealed a switchblade, drug paraphernalia, and two guns with obliterated serial numbers. The woman in the car, however, presented an ID belonging to Blair Tonzelli, a woman who had been missing for three years since 2023. It was quickly determined that the woman in the car was not Blair Tonzelli, but was using her identification, leading to a critical turning point in the investigation.
