The border crossing, described as "suss," involved a mysterious $100 per bike fee, with no receipt or clear explanation. This, coupled with additional charges for passengers (a hefty $75 for Canadians and $30 for Americans) and a $31 road fee per bike, made it the most expensive border crossing of their trip so far, totaling $327 for the group. Despite the unusual financial demands, the process felt like an established system, and the adventurers were prepared with cash, as card payments were not accepted.
